What the Food Critics are Saying

“The first in Caroline Styne and Suzanne Goin’s necklace of restaurants, Lucques is as vibrant as the day it opened. From the roasted vegetables (they truly are roasted here) to the bright yet subtle sauces to punchy dishes like short ribs with sautéed greens, cippollini, and horseradish cream, the place is defined by its poise and ease. A meal here is as comfortable as a Sunday supper with friends and as focused as a dot of almond pesto in a white bean soup.” – LA Magazine

“When people chat about restaurant cooking, the conversation usually flirts with ingredients, influences and technique. But when it comes to the food at Lucques […] discussion tends to come around to first principles: the small but telling details that make each ingredient taste most fully of itself; the essential qualities of the French-leaning pan-Mediterranean food. […] Behind [Chef Goin’s] simplicity lies not just the expected California farmers market fixation but also patience and extraordinary rigor.” – LA Times

Ambience

Beautifully designed by Barbara Barry, the setting – the former carriage house of silent film star Harold Lloyd – is idyllic. The main dining room features exposed brick walls, wooden rafters, and an inviting hearth. And the patio, one of the nicest in West Hollywood, offers all-season dining amidst walls covered with climbing vines.

On the Side

Lucques gets its name from a vivid green variety of French olive.
